Home Builder Austin

My wife and I are planning to move to Austin, Texas next year. Any neighborhood/area recommendations?

I see several options on real estate websites (north, central, south, etc.) but have no idea about them. We are in our 30's no kids, professionals. We'd like to be near the usual ameneties.

  1. Heck yeah!!!! dont move to north austin. south Austin is better i mean it depends on how much you want to pay. Lakeway is expensive and I do believe it is expensive near the Arboreum and dowtown. South central is more ghetto than anything. so maybe by Barton creek or Lake Travis. There are some really nice houses there. I am assuming you have never really been to Austin because everything you need will be close by no matter what part you move to!!! And hit up the alamo drathouse its a movie theatre and it is awesome!!!!!
  2. I have lived here all my life. Don't move South or East. I currently live right on the border of Round Rock and Austin and I love it. I would recommend Round Rock or Pflugerville. Somewhere you can jump on 45, 35, Mopac, or 130 (major road ways). Check out austinhomesearch.com
  3. definitely central if you can afford it. Second choice would be south austin, third choice would be westlake. There are lots of options for how you are describing yourself. First, there are tons of lofts and condos downtown and I'd also look at the neighborhoods of Clarksville, Tarrytown, Deep Eddy, Rosedale/Allendale, Hyde Park, Travis Heights. You don't want to be north of 51st st or anywhere near Round Rock. You won't be getting the true Austin expereince - just another suburb. Too far south is not great either, but a little south of the river isn't bad at all - in fact, South Congress/Travis Heights is one of the most desiable places.
  4. 30s, no kids, professionals- sounds like a typical Hyde Park couple. Check out the central and north central neighborhoods. Good distance away from busy areas but still plenty of restaurants etc.
  5. For what you describe, I have to agree with Bugbeaco and Hunnynut, you and your wife are likely to enjoy urban Austin. I believe also that your decision will be very much influenced by how much you want to afford on your new property and what kind (house, condo, etc.) as well as where your work place will be. Either Realtor.com and Austinhomesearch.com are the best websites to check. However, if you want me to set up a personalized website with your specific criteria that will bring you even more current information on properties available, go to my website -myclients1st.com-. Go to "contact me" on the bottom left. I'll be happy to assist you.
