I recently discovered houses for sale at Sheriff Sales. ?

On the listing, there was an indication that a lot of the houses were sold for costs, which were $2000-$3000. Does anyone have any information regarding Sheriff Sales? Are there any other costs involved? I know each area does them differently. I live in Montgomery County, PA and would appreciate any information regarding this area or general information.
